Last night’s elections were a mixed bag.

Republicans expanded their majority in the Senate and despite a net-loss of governorships won the biggest contests – Florida and Ohio – of the night.

Still, Democrats, riding a small but tenacious wave of discontent claimed enough Republican-held seats in historically GOP-leaning suburbs and blue-collar Trump districts to reclaim their majority in the House of Representatives.

President Trump, surely hoping to use Nancy Pelosi as a political foil over the next two years, eagerly endorsed the California Democrat for speaker on Wednesday — hours after Democrats clinched a majority in the House of Representatives.

Trump said in a tweet Pelosi “deserves” to be House speaker, and even offered to help provide the votes.

“In all fairness, Nancy Pelosi deserves to be chosen Speaker of the House by the Democrats,” he wrote. “If they give her a hard time, perhaps we will add some Republican votes. She has earned this great honor!”

In a victory speech Tuesday night, Pelosi laid out her progressive vision for the future, proclaiming “It’s about stopping the GOP and [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell’s assault on Medicare and Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and the health care of 130 million Americans living with pre-existing medical conditions.”

Will the Democrats go too far to the left and lose the suburban voters – especially women – they won over last night? How will all this bode for President Trump? Let us know in the comments below!
