Federal and local law enforcement officials thwarted a terror plot targeting various groups including racists, Jews, churches, and police officers by an Army veteran who succumbed to radical Islam and wanted revenge for the New Zealand mosque attacks.
The Daily Mail’s Valerie Edwards reports:
Prosecutors said Monday that Mark Domingo, 26, was arrested on Friday for planning to plant a bomb at a Nazi rally on Sunday in Long Beach.
White nationalists never showed up to the planned event in Bluff Park, but a large group of counter protesters demonstrated.
…
According to prosecutors, Domingo said he was willing to become a martyr.
‘There must be retribution,’ he wrote on an online post, authorities said. He also allegedly express allegiance for Islamic State.
Domingo also allegedly posted that “America needs another vegas event …[to] give them a taste of the terror they gladly spread all over the world.”
Those posts brought Domingo to the attention of authorities who sent an informant to gain his trust.
Over time, Domingo revealed his desire to spread terror by blowing up popular tourist attraction, possibly the Santa Monica Pier, or detonating explosives along bustling Southern California freeways.
