Increasingly unstable Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) finds herself once again defending a deranged rant, in what is becoming an increasingly common pattern of the former bartender making bizarre comments.
In a series of unhinged tweets, Ocasio-Cortez accused Republicans of leading a plot to overthrow the United States government and set the planet on fire.
“To the GOP extremists trying to invoke ‘the unborn’ to jail people for abortion: Where are you on climate change? OH right, you want to burn fossil fuels til there’s hell on Earth,” Ocasio-Cortez posted to Twitter Friday.
“What angers me about the GOP’s attempts to turn the United States into a far-right Christian theocracy is how dishonest they are about it,” she added. “At least be forthright about your desire to subvert and dismantle our democracy into a creepy theological order led by a mad king.”
Those strange comments, usually only heard on bus station benches, come less than 24 hours after an email from Ocasio-Cortez went out nationwide claiming Alabama’s new abortion law calls for prison sentences for women, even though the law explicitly forbids that.
Observers are growing increasingly worried about Ocasio-Cortez’s stability.
Since taking office, she has claimed:
* She had to give up Facebook because it was damaging her mental health.
* The Earth’s atmosphere was causing brain damage in children.
* Garbage disposals “confuse” and “terrify” her.
* Her “Green New Deal” is based on her belief the Earth will be completely destroyed in 12 years.
* She was “being sarcastic” when she said the Earth would be completely destroyed in 12 years, even though she said she was serious.
* Unemployment is low because all Americans have two jobs. The unemployment rate is calculated using the number of Americans with jobs, not the number of jobs filled. If people were working two jobs, the unemployment rate would be rising.
* She claimed she was being “inaugurated” into Congress.
* She believed Congress had passed a law because she got to give a speech in a committee hearing, even though no vote was held.
* When addressing a black audience, she suddenly began speaking in a “black voice” she has never used before. When asked what she was doing, she attacked the media for not understanding “code-switching,” which is not a thing.
* She attacked Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) by telling him “Why don’t you go do something” to fight terrorism. Crenshaw was awarded a Purple Heart after he lost his eye in a terrorist bombing while serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan.
* She responded to a photograph of the Democrat chairman of the Budget Committee posing next to a cardboard cutout of her by posting to Twitter “GOP: Let’s pose our older male members next to cardboard cutouts of young female legislators.” The man in the photo isn’t just a Democrat, he’s her Democrat colleague in Congress and had personally invited her to his state, and she still didn’t recognize him.
The Constitution allows Congress to remove Members for unethical and “disorderly” behavior but does not address basic intelligence, stability or competence.
