Socialist Congresswoman and walking gaffe machine Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared on CBS’ “The Late Show” to comment on the Democratic presidential debate and did what she’s best known for — embarrassing herself.

Ocasio-Cortez mocked the debate participants as kids who “didn’t seem like they read the book, and then they got called on” because they were unable to provide specific answers to any question.

“I think sometimes with the debate stage this big, it can kind of seem like a high school classroom, and so there are some folks that, like, didn’t seem like they read the book, and then they got called on. And then –” said Ocasio-Cortez.

“Anybody in particular?,” Colbert interrupted, expecting her to name someone specifically.

“You know, you kind of like— it depends on the question,” Ocasio-Cortez stammered.

“So— so they’ll answer the question or they’ll get called on, and I don’t think some candidates thought that they were going to get called on, on a certain question. And they’ll be like, “Yes, the hero was courageous and the protagonist of the story,” an unprepared Ocasio-Cortez rambled, sounding like someone who didn’t seem like they read the book, and then they got called on.

Her latest gaffe came just hours after the release of staged photographs from a 2018 visit to an illegal immigrant detention center in which she claimed to be crying over the sight of detained children. Close-ups reveal no tears, and photos taken by others standing behind her show she could only see a parking lot and empty road.
