Israel has devolved into chaos, as Palestinians upset over Jewish settlement issues have responded by engaging in violent, random stabbing attacks on Israeli civilians.
The Palestinian push for statehood has always been marked by violence visited on civilians. What’s to blame? Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations might have an answer:
Palestinian children are being “brainwashed” with “incitement and hate”, according to an Israeli spokesman.
Danny Danon, Israel’s new ambassador to the United Nations, is urging the Security Council to make a statement against what he described as “the incitement that fuels terror”.
During his speech, Mr Danon held up a piece of card with a diagram of a human body entitled “How to Stab a Jew”, which he said was “an example of what Palestinian children are being exposed to day in and day out, in school, after school”.
Stories like this have been around for decades, and they should give pause to anyone who thinks Israel can negotiate in good faith with Palestinians. Despite that long and sordid history, the Obama Administration is asking Israel to do just that.
Last week, Secretary of State John Kerry blamed Israeli settlements for the violence, a statement that lead Senator Ted Cruz to call for his resignation. Senator Kerry’s suggestion that Israel can make certain concessions to people so consumed by hate belies the distrubing foreign policy philosophy of the Obama Administration- appeasing the violent in exchange for hollow promises from those who would exhort children to violence.
