Aside from the Benghazi hearing, Hillary’s campaign has been marred by a slew of nutty statements that are sure to lose her ground with moderates. She’s railed for executive action on guns, mocked the VA scandal, and now, she’s got a foreign policy theory that should make Americans worried about her capacity to be commander in chief:
Hillary Clinton endorsed an unfounded position gaining favor with the Obama administration on Tuesday when she said at a campaign event in Iowa that the Syrian refugee crisis is being fueled, in part, by climate change.
The Democratic presidential candidate called for a United Nations-led effort to find nations willing to take in the 4 million Syrian refugees who have fled their war-torn homeland or to provide them with clothing and food.
“Then we have to ask ourselves, ‘Why is this happening?’” Clinton said at a town hall event in Coralville. “Because of terrible governance, because of corruption, because of conflict, because of climate change.”
This is an absurd argument, first forwarded by John Kerry, that has gained traction among liberals who wrap themselves in cultural and moral relativism. Instead of looking to the causes of the crises- Islamic extremism, authoritarian, brutal dictators, and centuries old ethnic tensions- Democrats are using the Syrian crisis as a segway to their domestic policy agenda. Practically, it reads something like this: “Look, Islamic immigrants are flooding into Europe, clashing with locals and creating a dire situation that’s putting nation’s economies on the brink. We have to act now…TO CREATE MORE GREEN JOBS!”
