CNN, wrapped in an increasingly isolated and insular bubble of anti-Trump hatred, has taken its visceral disgust of the president to new, ridiculous levels.
The left-leaning cable news network invited white supremacist Richard Spencer, who dislikes the president, to discuss Trump’s controversial tweets about AOC and ‘the Squad.’
The adage, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, didn’t make for a good look. Instead “the most trusted name in news” appeared to normalize a man who’s called for a “peaceful ethnic cleansing” and uses Nazi slogans.
Liberals were perplexed, too. (Daily Beast)
Spencer has also been accused of domestic abuse, allegedly beating his now-estranged wife throughout their relationship, including while she was pregnant—accusations he denies.
Academics have cautioned against offering white supremacists wide exposure, such as on-air interviews in slick studios.
“Spencer will turn this into a new wave of attention within his own media ecosystem, where CNN has now just legitimated a litany of white supremacists, many of who were relegated to online obscurity,” said Donovan.
