Are liberals slowly moving towards opening the door for social acceptance of pedophilia? Conservative Tribune makes the case:
In 1973, for instance, the American Psychiatric Association stopped classifying homosexuality as a mental illness. Likewise, some psychiatrists now want to do the same for pedophilia on the basis that “that the ‘negative potential’ of adult sex with children was ‘overstated’ and that ‘the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from childhood sexual abuse experiences.”
Furthermore, in 2012, Harvard Medical School published an article arguing that “(p)edophilia is a sexual orientation and unlikely to change.”
Then in 2013, two psychologists in Canada made the declaration that pedophilia is simply a sexual orientation just like homosexuality and heterosexuality.
Later that year, when Republicans tried to pass a bill specifying that “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation” — and therefore deserves zero protection via the Matthew Shephard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act — Democrats blocked it.
In the last several months, the democratic party has taken a stand against gun rights, religious liberty, and the notion that radical Islam is in any way connected to terrorism. It might sound absurd to think that they would seek to protect the perverse proclivities of pedophiles, but then everything they do these days is absurd.
