Another one bites the dust…
Lindsey Graham announced Monday morning that he will exit the 2016 presidential race. In a video announcement, the South Carolinian senator lamented the “rising tide of isolationism” and insisted on the need for ground troops in fighting ISIS abroad.
It’s hard to take Graham’s appeals about a rising tide of isolationism seriously. The man’s entire term in the Senate has been characterized by apocalyptic doomsaying and a call for a foreign policy so expansive that it would make Alexander the Great blush. In the wake of the Iraq and Afghanistan debacle, most Americans reject that sort of talk. Whenc ombined with Graham’s open contempt for the grassroots, it’s no wonder that he sits at 2 percent in the latest polls of his home state of South Carolina. Expect Graham to endorse either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush.
