As it becomes almost inevitable that Donald Trump will take the nomination for the Republican Party, conventional political pundits, analysts, and even elected officials can not understand why he continues to dominate the race. They can’t seem to understand what is wrong with the voters… and that is the problem. It’s not the voters that are wrong. Political party insiders are looking at it from their proverbial high horse atop Capitol Hill inside the alternate universe of the beltway. They do not share what is increasingly becoming the common perspective of a majority of Americans; Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.

There is a growing ideological and fundamental divide between the governing and the governed. The GOP looks at Trump and his supporters as the problem, while never examining the reason why we are gravitating to him. They continue to throw millions upon millions of dollars into attack ads and get out the vote efforts for their prodigies, first Jeb Bush and now Marco Rubio and yet are still failing while Trump spends a fraction of that to win more than double the states of anyone else. How and why are people coming out in unprecedented numbers to vote for a guy with no political experience? Simple, Donald Trump is the reset button. The problem is not Trump or his supporters, the problem is the Republican Party itself, they have failed us, as is apparent, despite holding both the House and Senate for the last few years and have failed to put up so much as even a fight against the very things they campaigned against. Donald Trump is a creation of the Republican Party and its leadership, the alternative to consistent failure.

For years the Republican Party has had a “chosen one” and whether Republican voters liked that candidate or not, many of us fell in line and voted for the establishment choice lest we sacrifice our vote against the Democrats. But we as an electorate were not excited by the last two picks (John McCain and Mitt Romney), and as a result, the GOP failed to turn out in the necessary numbers to win those elections.

Americans, including many Democrats switching their affiliation to vote for Trump, want a guy who has something to show for his career, unlike the bureaucrats we have now. We don’t care about a few of his business’ bankruptcies because those who have actually worked in the private sector know that it happens. We don’t care how “presidential” he appears, we don’t care that he hurls insults at the very people that are part of the reason our country is crashing, we don’t even particularly care where he is on abortion, gay marriage, gun control, social security or healthcare. What inspires us is when he stands behind a podium in front of thousands of people and says “I will build a wall to stop illegal immigration” or “I will bomb the S**T out of ISIS”, we don’t care about his 32-point plan that some analyst put on his website, we care that he will just get it done and we believe him. We see a guy with billions of dollars in his bank account, many successful companies and a guy with a backbone not afraid to take on the system that is destroying our children’s future.

You can’t stop Donald Trump. Trump is the only one who can move the dial in this election. It is his to lose. All the Super PACs can spend every dime they have on attack ads and, as we have seen, it only makes him stronger because it draws an even greater divide between him and the establishment that people are voting against. The Republican Party is changing; it is up to the old guard Republican Party to change with it or lose big in November.
