The savior of the Union, Abraham Lincoln, had a pet turkey named Jack that was supposed to be a part of his Thanksgiving dinner. As the story goes, Lincoln’s 10 year old son, Tad was adamently opposed to the killing of Jack due to their recent bonding. Tad vehemently convinced his father not to slay Jack, ultimately leading to a new pet for the Lincoln family.
