The San Fransico school board voted to paint over an iconic, 85-year-old mural of George Washington at George Washington High School. The mural showcased the first president and his life. The city’s Board of Education estimated they would have to spend $600,000 removing it. The board’s commissioner, Mark Sanchez, stated that “this is reparations” when explaining the decision on KQED radio
