Is Black Lives Matter beginning to turn on Hillary Clinton?
Erica Garner’s father was Eric Garner, the man who was strangled to death by New York City police officers while trying to sell loose cigarettes.
After new emails were leaked, showing that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was callously discussing how to “use” her father’s death as a political issue, Erica took her frustrations public on Twitter.
“I’m troubled by the revelation that you and this campaign actually discussed ‘using’ Eric Garner,” she said, in a tweet ostensibly meant for Hillary Clinton and her campaign. “Why would you want to ‘use’ my dad?
Garner’s tweet received plenty of media attention—but, after it received no response from Hillary or her campaign, Garner began to grow increasingly livid at the Democratic nominee.
“I am god damn… very angry,” she said, soon after.
Later, Garner was still trying to get Hillary to explain exploiting her dad’s death: “Will someone force the Clinton campaign to address these emails, for f**k’s sake?” Garner asked. Referencing Hillary’s dismissal that, because the leaked emails were allegedly leaked by Russia they shouldn’t have any place in this campaign, Garner added: “This s**t doesnt have s**t to do with the Russians! PLEASE!”
Hillary Clinton has still not responded.
