When the crisis in Syria sent refugees running towards Europe, Germany welcomed them with open arms. Here’s how they’ve been repaid:

GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel is facing catastrophe over her failed migrant policy, according to a new report.

During the first six months of 2016, migrants committed 142,500 crimes, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office.

And the country has been hit by a spate of horrendous violent crime including rapes, sexual and physical assaults, stabbings, home invasions, robberies, burglaries and drug trafficking.

Adding to the country’s woes is the fact that thousands of people have gone missing after travelling to the country on invitation from the country’s leader.

There’s more. Christian refugees fleeing ISIS say they feel more persecuted, specifically by Muslim refugees they share refugee camps with. Some have been threatened with beheading. There are reports that the German welfare system is being used to support plural marriages. Over half a million refugees who were denied asylum now are still residing in the country, and they’re now desperately seeking a strategy to deport hundreds of thousands.

In the meantime, the German government has to account for thousands of people whose origins and motives are unclear. Two days ago, one of these folks stabbed two teenagers in Hamburg Germany. One of them died, and ISIS claimed responsibility.

Make no mistake: The United States is not Germany. We’re a large nation with a history of welcoming immigrants and a national identity that’s based on the acceptance of a set of ideals. Still, the problem remains the same. Before we engage in some ideological rush to do the humanitarian thing and welcome thousands of unvetted immigrants, we must ensure that America’s national security comes first. Germany provides a blueprint for what not to do.
