Sanders Equates Soleimani Strike to Assassination of Pro-Democracy Activists

Reasonable people can disagree on the repercussions of killing Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani (of course, when in the last 40 years has Iran ever demonstrated restraint). However, only the most corrupt ideologues are launching demonstrably untrue, slanderous attacks against President Trump to spite his annihilation of arguably the world’s most dangerous terrorist.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was one of the most prominent leftists who melted down, even comparing the precision strike to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assassination of pro-Democracy activists.

Per TownHall:

Senator Sanders seemed to be specifically referring to the 2015 assassination of anti-Putin politician Boris Nemtsov, who stood strongly against Vladimir Putin’s government. He was shot just before a protest against Russian involvement in Ukraine, which he himself organized.

Senator Sanders’ comparison of these two events is asinine; Soleimani was a known terrorist with American blood on his hands, while the latter civilian of the Senator’s comparison simply dissented against the government and lost his life on the basis of ideology. President Trump’s move was patriotic, brave and, frankly, long overdue. Soleimani’s capture and killing was just, and an inherently good thing for the world at-large.

When President Obama took out Osama Bin Laden, conservatives gave credit where credit was due; what is good for America, is, in fact, good. Senator Sanders also gave credit to President Obama for taking out Bin Laden:

“The death of Osama bin Laden is a historic moment in our fight against international terrorism and his Al Qaeda organization…I applaud the extraordinary bravery of those American military personnel who participated in this highly-effective operation, the intelligence operation that made it possible and the leadership of President Obama,” the Senator said in a May 2011 statement.
