The far-left mayor of Seattle, Ed Murray, has finally resigned—after a fifth man has come forward, accusing the mayor of child molestation.

Murray’s cousin, Joseph Dyer, 54, claims that Murray violated him when he was 13 years old in the mid-1970s—while they were sharing a bedroom at Dyer’s mother’s house. Murray would have been in his early 20s at the time.

Murray has continued to deny both the allegations from Dyer, as well as claims from the previous four men who have accused the mayor of sexually abusing them as children:

“While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our city government to conduct the public’s business,” the mayor said.

The allegations began coming out in April. At the time, Murray punched back against the charges—claiming that the accusations were baseless, meant to target him because he was openly gay and unabashedly progressive.

However, the accusers have since grown to include two members of Murray’s family: his former foster child and now Dyer, his cousin.

Murray had already dropped out of his re-election bid in May but now finished his term yesterday. He’ll be replaced temporarily by Seattle City Councilman Bruce Harrell.
