Joe Biden’s pursuit of the presidency relied heavily on a carefully cultivated image that emphasized his moderate credentials. It won him the White House but, a new poll says, a majority of voters may be suffering from buyer’s remorse.
According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 54 percent of U.S. voters surveyed said Mr. Biden was governing like “a puppet of the left” and not the “moderate ‘nice guy’” he portrayed himself as being during much of the campaign.
If that were not bad enough for a White House whose legislative agenda anticipates a prolonged progressive shift in U.S. politics, 49 percent of likely voters (including 24 percent of Democrats) participating in the same survey said they believed the left-wing of the Democratic Party “had too much influence” on Mr. Biden.
The condemnation of the president’s apparent lack of independence and leftward drift was shared widely among cross-sections of the electorate. Majorities of male and female voters, as well as voters in every age category, agreed he was operating as a “puppet.” Black voters, Rasmussen reports said, were “less likely” than voters in any other category to agree.
“Remarkably, many who say the left-wing has too much influence” on the president “also believe big business has too much influence” on him. The survey revealed 49 percent likely voters including 66 percent of GOP voters, 29 percent of Democrats, and 52 percent of unaffiliated voters were wary of the level of sway corporations had on the new president.
Voters who “strongly approve” of Mr. Biden’s presidential job performance were most likely to applaud the left’s influence on the administration’s agenda while those who strongly disapproved were almost unanimous in their opinion he was not governing as he’d promised.
During the initial days of his administration, Mr. Biden’s White House advanced several proposals that prioritized the interests of the green movement over those of the blue-collar union members who formed the core of the Democratic electorate at the time the president first entered the United States Senate. Among them was the decision to kill the Keystone XL pipeline – which even AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, a close ally of Mr. Biden’s seemed to admit was a job-killing move – and a ban on new fracking on federal lands which, experts say, will ravage the budgets of states dependent on energy exploration issues to pay for education and other critical programs.
The shift has observers who are admittedly not fans of Mr. Biden wondering if he is in charge at the White House of if Vice President Kamala Harris, who campaigned briefly for president on a much more progressive agenda, is calling many of the important shots. Either way, the voters are showing early on they’re not happy about having been sold a bill of goods, apparently expecting a vote against the Trump presidency was not specifically as a vote against Trump policies that drove energy prices to record lows, sparked a prolonged stock market rally, and prior to the onset of the pandemic-driven lockdowns, brought unemployment to its lowest level in decades.
All that may abate if Mr. Biden changes direction again after he’s been in office for one hundred days. The idea of front-loading a legislative agenda with the heaviest political and ideological lifts that allow an incoming president to maximize accomplishments during the “Honeymoon Phase” of his presidency is not new. It’s been done before precisely because it gives controversial legislation its best chance to get through Congress and gives those who support it including the president the most time possible to recover lost political capital before the next election.
Whether Mr. Biden can do that will depend on his ability to get progressives like Bernie Sanders and AOC as well as house Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to agree that, once reconciliation passes, he’s given them enough — for now.

Democrats enter public office with a laundry list of ‘mandates’, which they somehow interpret as being justifications to repeal Constitutional rights and freedoms from constituents because the ‘people’ have spoken! (In this latest election, the ‘people’ who spoke rigged the voting machines and stuffed ballot boxes.) Liberal voters remind me of a line in the movie “Twister”, where a domineering storm chaser tells his subordinate “If I want your opinion, I’ll give it to you!”. These voters are like robots which can be programmed to jump and squeak about any issue they’re ‘assigned’ to demand government involvement. Where our leadership went awry was when they relinquished the chains of their Constitutional limitations, and started ministering to segments of the population to address their concerns to the exclusion of other segments–indeed, the virtual oppression, demoralization and marginalization of half the population! Now we’re supposed to walk on eggshells around these people, lest we lose our jobs if we violate a growing number of speech protocols zealously enforced by government authority. Meanwhile, back at the fiscal ranch, these liberals are getting filthy rich, bankrupting our treasury, embroiling our country in endless, needless conflicts and arranging for the elimination of our means to support ourselves with jobs. Maybe we should restate the old saying “You can’t fix stupid”, with “You can’t fix liberals”.

I sincerely wish people would stop calling these creatures “progressives”. Shoving Communism down our throats is NOT progress. Just look at Russia. Now that the Communists are no longer in control there, the people are generally much better off than they were thirty years ago. They even employed their old trick of starving the German population of Berlin into submission, until America started the airlift that saved those hapless people. Korea unleashed the Chinese communists to push down to the 38th Parallel, where they almost overran our forces before the treaty was fashioned. Vietnam saw communists marching into Saigon, after the Americans left those people to fend for themselves. Our freedoms are guaranteed by the Constitution, which was granted to the people, NOT to politicians. That spoonful of baloney that we’re supposed to grant our leaders free rein to dismantle our charter is just one more example of how this process is advancing.

My father was a liberal. He believed in Big Government (He even worked for the outfit as a civilian Radio/Radar/Telemetry/Rocket Propulsion Technician at Edwards AFB.) His modus operandi to gain advantages and access to people’s property–particularly airplanes, which he flew for free, or just the cost of fuel–was to offer to fix the various appliances, vehicles, aircraft (Though he wasn’t licensed to do so, he actually did fix plane radios, or other components) of his friends, then ‘obligate’ them to grant him permission to use their property. I was among his many customers, and believe me, those markers were called in around the clock to have me help fix his trappings. Not only would he have access to my property, he would schedule “Shake Down Cruises” of the planes I flew (He lost his flight medical, so I had to chauffeur him around in the planes I owned or rented.) usually down to Southern California to visit his brother.
Using other people’s money, property or their knowledge to advantage themselves or their ilk is the hallmark of liberalism.
Our government would be at a standstill if they could not attain funding for their various pursuits. It is the height of chutzpah that they can tax the crap out of Americans to support non-citizens, foreign dictators and BIG Whatever, while they pit us against each other with contentious issues to distract us from that realization.

During the campaign it was obvious to many that Biden was only going to be a puppet president. I’m curious who actually wrote all those Executive Orders he has signed? I wonder how many of those executive orders were originally written back in 2016 in anticipation of a Hillary win and she was suppose to sign them back in 2017? Who were the real authors?
One thing should be obvious to everyone by now. The election was not between Trump and Biden. In reality, Trump was running against Harris, Schumer, Pelosi, Obama the rest of the Democrats, liberal Republicans, and the wealthy elites. Biden is just a puppet and they are his puppet masters. They aren’t about to let Biden run the country. By now I can’t believe that a large majority of those who voted for Biden were gullible enough to think that, as President, Biden would be in charge. Anyone who believed that would buy a bridge in Brooklyn. They must realize by now that they voted for his puppet masters.
As a puppet, his job will be to sit in the Oval Office and sign the documents put in front of him. Speeches and statements will be written for him. Press conferences will be handled by the Press Secretary or the Vice President. For interviews, Schumer, Pelosi and the rest will be pulling the strings. You can be sure Obama and Hillary will also have their hands on the strings.
I seriously believe they will try to keep him at least two or more years. Harris, Schumer, Pelosi and the rest are making a lot of major changes fast. They need Biden in the Oval Office in case any or all of their projects backfires and they can’t sweep it all under the rug. They can dump all the blame on him. If the situation gets ugly, he will be their scapegoat. Everyone else will still be running everything.
You’re leaving out something we’re now hearing about, though I predicted this about Biden before his coronation: He is going to deploy American forces to Iran, and he is doing this for Israel. We know his current Syrian adventures place our troops in harm’s way, and it seems every time a car backfires near our forward bases, the ‘attack’ is blamed on Iran. Biden has given Iran a warning to be careful. If you know anything about liberals, they’re not careful to keep us out of such mischief.
