Rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement
The United States officially withdrew from the agreement on November 4, 2020, as it would cost the country $3 trillion and cut 6.5 million jobs. Biden signed an executive order to rejoin the agreement, keeping in line with his campaign pledge to make the nation carbon-neutral by 2050.
By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.
