Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has long stood by President Trump as one of his strongest congressional allies. But the violent riot by several hundred Trump supporters Wednesday at the Capitol was too much for him.
The South Carolina senator declined to indulge the president’s wishes to stymie President-elect Joe Biden’s electors on Wednesday based on unsubstantiated allegations of systemic voter fraud, which have failed scores of times to overturn the presidential election results.
For a crowd of Trump supporters coming home from the Stop the Steal rally at Reagan National Airport, Graham’s decision was enough to warrant calling him a “traitor.”

Another video was posted by Trump supporter Mindy Robinson on Twitter. “You know it was rigged!” she can be heard shouting at the senator.
Lindsey Graham just made the mistake walking by me and a mass of angry patriots at the airport in DC.
All America wants is for you to AUDIT OUR VOTE and purge this election of this massive corruption…and you won’t do it. We’re not letting this “slide” so expect more of this. pic.twitter.com/pbemr2Gcr9

Following Wednesday’s riot that led to the deaths of five Americans, including one Trump supporter who was shot and another who was reportedly trampled to death, Graham had a police escort through the terminal.
After law enforcement regained control of the Capitol Wednesday evening, Graham said this:
“Trump and I, we’ve had a hell of a journey. I hated it being this way. Oh, my god, I hate it,” Graham added. “From my point of view, he’s been a consequential president. But today, first thing you’ll see, all I can say is count me out, enough is enough.”
