New York Republican Congressman Chris Jacobs suddenly dropped his re-election bid just days after endorsing a national ban on semi-automatic firearms.

“”I can’t in good conscience sit back and say I didn’t try to do something.  I want to be completely transparent of where I am in Congress. If an assault weapons ban bill came to the floor that would ban something like an AR-15, I would vote for it,” Jacobs said in a May 27 speech.

But while the surrender played well in Washington, actual voters were not happy.

Outraged residents quickly made clear they would not support Jacobs, and within days he dropped plans for re-election.

“We have a problem in our country in terms of both our major parties.  If you stray from a party position, you are annihilated,” said Jacobs, announcing a week later his sudden retirement from Congress.

“For the Republicans, it became pretty apparent to me over the last week that that issue is gun control. Any gun control,” Jacobs moaned.

“The last thing we need is an incredibly negative, half truth-filled media attack, funded by millions of dollars by special interest money coming into our community, around this issue of guns, gun violence, and gun control,” Jacobs complained of plans to accurately quote his record.

Previously New York secretary of state and a state senator, Jacobs had been endorsed by the National Rifle Association in 2020.

He was running in a heavily Republican district centered in suburban Buffalo, where a self-described “socialist” murdered 10 black residents in a supermarket.

He voted to create the “January 6 Committee” to investigate former President Donald Trump’s alleged involvemen in the Capitol riots and was reportedly a member of the moderate “Republican Governance Group” and “Republican Main Street Partnership.”

“Carl Paladino, the party’s gubernatorial nominee against then-Democratic state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in 2010, also threw his hat in the ring for the congressional seat on Friday — with the support of House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik,” Insider.com reports.

Voters will pick a new Republican nominee in an Aug. 23 primary election.

  1. Rino came out of the closet and got run off , now we need to get rid of Kevin McCarthy Lindsey Graham and the other two bitches murkowski and Collins all rinos helping to ruin America, get rid of r.inos make America great again

    1. I agree, but only two of the four can we vote out this November, McCarthy who is in the House and Murkowski (AK) who is in the Senate. If McCarthy(CA) wins which he probably will, then what we need to do is pressure our U.S. House of Representatives not to vote for him as Speaker of the House because he’s nothing more than a Chamber Of Commerce establishment Rino. He would be a disaster as Speaker because of all the power he’d have to control the House’s agenda. This would be a big disaster for the Republicans after they win the majority in the House. Lindsey Graham is not up for re-election until 2028 and I know because I’m from South Carolina. Hopefully, he’ll retire, but if not, then we need to find a good candidate from our SC delegation to primary him and there are two that would be a great improvement, Jeff Duncan and Ralph Norman, both conservatives. Senator Collins is also not up for re-election until 2028, unfortunately. Hopefully, she’ll retire too.

  2. What a coward of demise. The politics are wearing with defenseless peoples will for truth.

  4. Good riddance Jacobs… you are the epitome of a RINO! You are a coward and you cut and run because you didn’t stand a chance at re-election.

  5. Now more than ever we need the Supreme Court to rule against NY an it’s ridiculous gun laws, the most dangerous state in the US needs law abiding citizens armed ,we need criminal control not more gun control.

    1. I just wish that they would come out and announce their decisions, instead of letting the bullies run them. Fear is just as deadly as the most dangerous gun, and they are letting the bullies be in charge of way too much in our lives. When you stand up to bullies, they become defenseless. I learned that years ago.

  6. If these losers dont like the Second Amendment why do they go ahead and lie by taking an oath to defend our Constitution when they get the job ?

    1. EXACTLY!! Look at your school boards and local and state governing boards. Do they say what they mean and mean what the say? Time to do some heavy evaluation all the way up.

  7. Join the Democratic-Socialists. Joe and Kamala will open their arms to you. Then a trip to your psychiatrist to heal your hurt feelings might be good therepy.

    1. There is no such thin as a “Democratic” Socialist! They are just Socialists — not at all Democratic. If they find that the U.S. of A. is so bad, they are more than free to go to say Russia, China, Venesuala (sp?), Somalia, etc., etc. No one is keeping them here.

  8. And we thank you for having the sense to not run again and embarrass yourself and party. I hope you become an example for the remaining rhinos.

  9. Another RINO down; bet his former constituents gave him an ear full.
The only way to rid ourselves of these wolves in sheep’s clothing is to shame them, publicly if possible.

  10. What they do NOT seem to know is the U.S. Constitution that they SWORE to “defend and uphold”. Everyone — We better do a better job evaluating the people who we elect to school boards, city/town, county, state, AND Federal positions. In Arizona, we have a MEDIA person who was mistakenly endorsed by President Trump, Kari Lake, and a businesswoman, Karren Taylor-Robson. The first joined the NRA when she decided to run, and the second is a lifelong Conservative NRA member. Guess who I support? Good-bye RINOS!

  11. donkey hole rino doesn’t even know the definition of assault rifle, they call anything they are afraid of an assault rifle just cause it is black, but of course democrats are racist!

  12. I would consider gun control if you can show me a way to stop the crazy people from shooting schools, churches or any place without collecting all the guns. Considering the last two or three were legally obtained by the shooter. I have no idea how to do it. I figure if you walked into a group of people with a pump shotgun you could kill about as many as with an AR-15. “Guns don’t kill People – People Kill People” The gun is just a tool like a hammer, shovel, tire iron, or any other hard / sharp object that can hurt you. Never seen anything attack without a hand holding it.
