With the pandemic-delayed Games of the XXXII Olympiad approaching, athletes from 206 nations take the final weeks before the opening ceremony to prepare for a chance at Olympic glory.

Half a world away from the frantic final preparations in Tokyo, a small group of Olympic veterans compete to join another exclusive club: the United States Congress. The following Olympians appear poised to run for public office in the 2022 midterm elections. Known for overcoming adversity through legendary determination and having a reserve of bipartisan goodwill for representing Team USA on the world stage, only a fool would outright dismiss their chances.
