On Wednesday, it was reported that the United States Department of Justice shut down more than 30 Iranian-linked “news” sites spreading propaganda.
The Daily Wire reports:
“Today, pursuant to court orders, the United States seized 33 websites used by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union (IRTVU) and three websites operated by Kata’ib Hizballah (KH), in violation of U.S. sanctions,” the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a press release titled, “United States Seizes Websites Used by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union and Kata’ib Hizballah.”
“On Oct. 22, 2020, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated IRTVU as a Specially Designated National (SDN) for being owned or controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force (IRGC),” the release explained.
According to the Justice Department, SDNs are “prohibited from obtaining services, including website and domain services, in the United States without an OFAC license.”
“OFAC’s announcement explained that components of the government of Iran, to include IRTVU and others like it, disguised as news organizations or media outlets, targeted the United States with disinformation campaigns and malign influence operations,” the release continued. “Thirty-three of the websites seized today were operated by IRTVU. The 33 domains are owned by a United States company. IRTVU did not obtain a license from OFAC prior to utilizing the domain names.”
The Associated Press further reported that the Department of Justice “took over the domain name of the news website Palestine Today, which reflects the viewpoints of Gaza-based Islamic militant groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, redirecting the site to the same takedown notice.”

Biden’s approach to Iran is like killing ants with an icepick. This is a political show and a total waste of time. We were loosing World War II, until we began to bomb the factories, where the weapons were made and to kill off the workers in those factories.
This is the only approach that can work against fanatics that think their Allah will bring them victory. Iran must be disarmed by the destruction of their means to make and buy weapons. Only then will the people of Iran, learn the lesson that we taught to the Imperial Japanese.
The information from these sites was no disinformation.
The Biden FBI also seized almaalomah, which provided unique news pieces on the dirty tricks played by the US on Iraq. I think that was the real reason the sites were pulled.
Using the standards cited for the prohibition from the article above many (of not most) mainstream media companies (CNN, MSNBC etc) here in the US would be banned as well.
OK, so we stop “misinformation” by Islam media, but we allow our own major media to do the exact same thing.
The DOJ closed these sites for propaganda so they don’t interfere with the fake news and lies put out by pro left media in this country.
