Rep. Matt Gaetz stunned viewers on Tuesday night by naming a former Department of Justice official who he claims is trying to extort him for $25 million dollars in connection with the bombshell story that Gaetz is reportedly being investigated for alleged sex trafficking.
Gaetz claims the official’s name who is trying to extort him is David McGee who he claims demanded $25 million dollars from Gaetz and his family in exchange for making the investigation go away.
Gaetz went on to claim that McGee claimed to have connections with the Biden White House, and was told that Gaetz would receive a pardon from Biden if he handed over the money.
Gaetz also called on the FBI to release the tapes of the alleged extortion attempt, which he claims were recorded by his father while wearing a wire.
McGee for his part shot back in an interview with the Daily Beast later that night:
In an interview with The Daily Beast late Tuesday night, McGee said any reports of extortion involving him or his firm were “completely, totally false.”
“This is a blatant attempt to distract from the fact that Matt Gaetz is apparently about to be indicted for sex trafficking underage girls,” McGee said.
Whatever the truth may be, in this case, it seems that only one of the parties involved is telling it.
