CNN’s Chris Cuomo welcomed Ice Cube on his program Friday night to discuss the iconic rapper’s advisory role for the Trump campaign’s “Platinum Plan” for black Americans.

After a cordial interview, Cuomo handed off the proverbial baton to fellow anchor, Don Lemon. Lemon proceeded to scold the music legend, movie star, and film director — but not in front of his face — for associating with President Trump.

Lemon did his best to mask his criticism of Cube by preemptively mentioning his undeniable talent and affable personality. (Mediaite)

“But one needs to know what one is talking about,” he continued. “One needs to educate oneself on just what is, other than the basics about capital, which is important, about voting, which is important, and so on and so forth. So you have to be careful who you align yourself with. So you have to educate yourself about that.”

He went on to say that the Trump campaign, in an effort to peel off some Black support, “is trying to pit African Americans against Hispanics or against immigrants by saying immigrants are taking your jobs.”

Conceding that Cube has made it clear he’s not “affiliated” with the Trump campaign, Lemon said “There’s a reason why most Black people don’t align themselves with the Trump philosophy… and I think that, listen, quite frankly Cube, you have to recognize that. I respect him, and if he’s listening or watching, that he’s trying to ultimately help people, but it is important in the way you do it as well, and with whom you do it, and I just think that you have to be careful about being used, because if it was truly just about helping people, the person who tweeted it out and said ‘Oh thanks for helping’ or whatever the Trump representative [Senior adviser Katrina Pierson] did, wanted black men to know because Cube is a rapper and he has a lot of Black support, especially from men, wanted people to know that and again, it is too cute by half philosophy. I think it’s quite obvious what’s going on, but there you have it.”

Lemon’s attempts to dissuade a fiery response from Cube failed spectacularly (WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE).

Amanda Head recently discussed the broader implications of Ice Cube’s willingness to collaborate with the Trump campaign:

Ice Cube is a hero for being truthful, honest, and thoughtful for Black prosperity! God bless him for collaborating with Trump! Voting for Biden will be the biggest mistake Black people will make in history. We as Blacks have to stop voting monolithically. Even though we know and see that Biden has cognizant and memory issues, he appears to be unable to fill the position as our U.S. president. But, Blacks will still vote for him just because he is a democrat, and placates to us to get our votes. We know in the past Biden has said horrible racist things about Black people. It is also seems to be that he is allegedly involved in some corruption with his son that is going to compromise the image and economic condition of this country. Even some of our millennials who are not very smart and cannot think for themselves will vote democratic. If Biden wins, it is going to be the most chaotic and horrible existence for all the people in this nation!
