Prominent Fox News guest and radio commentator Dan Bongino broke down while revealing to listeners on his program that doctors found a 2.7-inch tumor inside his neck.
“It’s a tumor, but there’s a strong likelihood that it is not cancerous,” Bongino emphasized. However, he made clear that the doctor’s uncertainty, for now, coupled with the growths’ placement near his carotid artery and vocal cords has him feeling something he’s not accustomed to — scared.

The Washington Examiner’s Andrew Mark Miller reports:
“I noticed when I came out of the MRI machine that the look on the doctor’s face changed a little bit as he told me in the room inside that it is not a lipoma,” an emotional Bongino said as he fought back tears. “Which was very scary.”
Bongino thanked his wife, his fans, and his doctors before adopting an optimistic tone and telling his fans that life and his show go on “no matter what happens.”
“We have two lives,” Bongino said, quoting American novelist Bernard Malamud. “The life we learn with and the life we live after that, and the genuine path to happiness is through suffering.”
Bongino told his audience he is flying to New York on Friday for more information on his condition and will update his fans then.

Dan, I am praying for you. My son had throat cancer with a tumor very close to his carotid and it was very large stage 4. It turned out to be cancerous however he had a better chance of cure due to the fact that it was a type that responded better to treatment. He was 42 at the time and now he is 48 and clear of cancer. He went to Hopkins for his treatment and was very please with his oncology radiologist. Treatment was a bear, but it was worth it. By the way he was not a smoker or heavy drinker.

Yes, get to MD immediately!!!!! Was there with a cousin that was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Malignancy and given 3 to 4 months to live when diagnosed last June and we got him to MD and was told he could pass away that night We were given what to do in case he had problems. It is now months later and while he is not “well” he is living alone and doing very well. I was a singer for 19 yrs. One evening I was practicing and couldn’t hit my high notes. Long story short.. I went to 3 Drs and the 3rd did a MRI.. He found a Swanomma Neuroma the size of an egg on vocal cord against my Carotid Artery. I was sent to Vanderbuilt in Nashville for surgery. I was just like Dan, full of tears and thought the worst after what the Doc said .
If there was one thing I could tell Dan today , it would be to keep the faith. We all are in Gods hands. I kept a firm positive outlook and just before going back for surgery I told the Doc, I’ll see you after the surgery…I’m a firm believer when you allow negative thoughts, your more than likely get negative results. Never go into surgery thinking you won’t make it. Again, we are in Gods hands , and in his time. I knew the next morning when the Doc came in and gave me the results of my surgery . The tumor wasn’t even attached. So I ask the Doc , how was it growing?? He did not know.. but I did.. It was not my time.. And I had a huge prayer chain.
Dan if you see this know I was in turmoil just like you …My tumor was not cancerous either. I would highly suggest you go to Houston, the best in the Country.

This sounds a lot like what my wife just went thru. It was an off shoot of tongue cancer caused by a virus. Its treatable without surgery. She had a large mass on the right side of her neck and a mass on the back of her tongue that made it difficult to swallow. She went thru 7 weeks of radiation treatment and 5 chemo treatments. At this time all appears good, except that she can’t eat much because nothing tastes good. Its because of the chemo and should be out of her system next month.
A tumor in the neck (near) the carotid artery should pose no more difficulty in removal than a protatectomy which surrounds the urethra, which is a very delicate operation to remove ALL of the enlarged prostate without cutting the urethra.

The first priority is to know exactly what you’re dealing with. Although MRI can suggest a certain condition, only a pathologist can render a diagnosis.
Other things in your personal and family history might also point to a certain pathology. By now I’m sure you know all this.
If it turns out to be non-benign, treatment then depends on what the tumor is and how localized or widespread it is.
I am a Radiologist and am familiar with the protocol.
