The Pulitzer Prize sparked controversy this year by awarding transgender writer Andrea Long Chu, a transgender individual assigned male at birth, with the prize for criticism. Chu’s recognition comes from his book reviews published in New York magazine and its site, Vulture. However, Chu’s win has faced backlash from women who are both bewildered and repulsed by his previous writings. In these writings, Chu asserts that anyone can identify as a woman and attributes his own desire to transition to pornography addiction.

While many celebrities have battled pornography addiction, such as both Kanye West and Terry Crews, Chu’s past writings indicate a particular embrace of his previous pornography use, suggesting that “sissy porn” played a role in his decision to pursue gender transition.

“Sissy porn did make me trans,” Chu wrote.

Its worth noting that being transgender, also known as having gender dysphoria, is a widely recognized psychological phenomenon with a long history. However, in the case of Chu, there seems to be a different aspect at play: autogynephilia. Autogynephilia involves experiencing sexual arousal or pleasure from the idea of oneself as a woman. Chu’s writings delve into explicit descriptions of his fantasies and attempt to hyper-sexualize them.

Andrea Long Chu received the Pulitzer Prize for criticism for his collection of book reviews published in New York magazine and Vulture. However, critics argue that awarding Chu the prize grants his an unwarranted authority on womanhood and feminism, despite not having experienced being female. Some view Chu as a fetishist and imposter, while others find his writing style provocative and convoluted, likening it to Judith Butler but lacking sophistication. In his book “Females,” Chu openly discusses his affinity for “sissy porn,” featuring men in women’s underwear and submissive roles. He challenges the idea of womanhood as a biological or genetic trait, instead presenting it as an existential condition. Chu’s intention is to provoke, and he has previously contributed to literary publications before joining New York magazine.

According to Breitbart:

Others are objecting to how the Pulitzers have effectively elevated Chu to an authority figure on womanhood and feminism — two of his favorite subjects — despite the fact that Chu has never been female. Some have even dismissed Chu has a glorified sexual fetishist and female imposter.

“The truth is, I have never been able to differentiate liking women from wanting to be like them,” he also wrote.

In another passage clearly meant to provoke, Chu lamented the ways in which the culture has debased women to the “barest essentials” of “femaleness” — “an open mouth, an expectant asshole, blank, blank eyes.”

“Getting f**ked makes you female because fucked is what a female is.”

In one n+1 essay, he wrote about his experience undergoing “bottom surgery” to remove his penis and create an artificial vagina.

As for his politics, Chu once argued — again, with seemingly deliberate provocation — that then-President Donald Trump may be suffering from gender dysphoria.

“He is, after all, an abortive man, a beta trapped in an alpha’s body,” he wrote, before bizarrely and falsely accusing Trump of shooting up a school.

Chu’s writings have generated a mixture of bewilderment and disdain among some women due to their explicit discussions of personal fantasies and preferences for “sissy porn.” While some compare Chu’s provocative and convoluted writing style to that of Judith Butler, others criticize it for lacking sophistication and nuance.

Chu attempted to challenge traditional notions of womanhood, contending that it is an existential condition rather than a biological or genetic characteristic. However, Chu, to many, comes off as little more than someone with an abnormal view of a healthy sexual life, and an overall perverse imposter of an actual woman. This has led to accusations of fetishism in his writings. While Chu claims that their intention is to provoke, many are not falling to the bait, and are choosing to stay away from someone with an obscene view of sexuality.

  1. Pulitzer Prizes. They give these things away now at the five and dime. I hear you can even get them for writing fictional non-fiction.

  2. Pulitzer has in the last several years shown itself to be a laughing-stock and morally bankrupt. The travesty us a final nail in its coffin. What legit group would give an award to porn of any kind?? Disgusting. Write them off as willing to sell their soul.

  3. This should ‘only be’ a shock to those who 🤔journalism hasn’t yet been replaced by fake-news…they ought to rename the Pulitzer to “the Puke-licker prize”…
