New York Governor Kathy Hochul has now signed a massive new batch of gun control legislation into law, including a measure which raises the age at which a citizen can purchase a semi-automatic rifle from 18 to 21.

New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul signed a 10-bill package of gun laws on Monday that included raising the age to legally purchase a semiautomatic rifle from 18 to 21 following several recent mass shootings nationwide.
Hochul signed the package to immediately strengthen the state’s gun laws and close “critical loopholes” as lawmakers seek to decrease shootings. The governor signed the bills at the Northeast Bronx YMCA with New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D), Speaker of the New York State Assembly Carl Heastie (D), partners in the legislature, New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), and victims and survivors of gun violence in attendance.
“Gun violence is an epidemic that is tearing our country apart. Thoughts and prayers won’t fix this, but taking strong action will,” Hochul said in a statement.
“In New York, we’re taking bold steps to protect the people of our state. I am proud to sign a comprehensive bill package that prohibits the sale of semiautomatic weapons to people under 21, bans body armor sales outside of people in select professions, closes critical gun law loopholes and strengthens our Red Flag Law to keep guns away from dangerous people—new measures that I believe will save lives,” she added.
Hochul has been a longtime advocate of imposing new, draconian gun laws on American citizens.

Does this woman realize that young men and women, once they turn 18, can enlist in the military and be TAUGHT how to use AUTOMATIC weapons, let alone semiautomatic weapons? Or is she another shit for brains politician whoring herself for votes?
Hocul is just another liar who is trying to control. I do believe her state is one of the bad ones when it comes to using the laws they have against criminals including criminals that use guns. She stands be hind criminals and many New Yorkers just don’t have the brains to see this. There are many ways to stop mass shootings especially at schools. Looking at this last Texas shooting I want to see a “TRUE” investigation. This investigation would include what web pages the shooter went to, his emails/messages/any other correspondence and their content and with whom, his acquantiances and who encouraged what, on and on. See I believe that these mass shootings are “helped along” by people that have an agenda of controlling the American public. These people have been successful, look at the numbers that took the covid vaccines. The FDA doesn’t have to release safety info on the vaccines and they are not. The CDC is another organization thaat should be on top of this safety issue and they are not. In short big pharma, whom you can’t sue apparently, owns these organization to hide naything they wish to be hidden. Hence the same with Gun Control. These “controls/super rich/elites have always thought they deserve control, they deserve the vast majority of the wealth, they aare the only ones smart enough to run your life. The controllers/super rich/elites don’t care who gets hurt or killed as long as they get control. This has been shown through out history time and time again.

Kathy Hochul has got to be either crazy or stupid. Awright,so none of those young kids can buy semi-automatic rifles any more. Fine and dandy, but she’s apparently too dumb to understand that there’s such a thing as bolt-action rifles. that they can buy to their heart’s content. “Hey, kid, ya wanna buy a Springfield ought three rifle?”
Both patently UNCONSTITUTIONAL. #1-Every American citizen (“The People”) has the right to have a gun uninfringed. #2 People have the right to protect themselves, so why not “body armor? It can’t hurt anybody unless they take it off and beat somebody with it. If somebody want’s to wear it, that should be her choice-NOT HER’S ! At some point people will just do what they want anyway, because they will only take so much. Criminal’s will just ignore these laws anyway, so NOTHING WILL CHANGE.
Did the bill also make 21 the minimum age to vote? If people under 21 are not considered mature enough to be trusted with a semi-automatic rifle without supervision, they are not mature enough to be allowed to vote. Only adults should have guns without supervision or vote, and 21 should be the legal age of adulthood for most purposes.
