On Monday a new bill was passed by the Illinois legislature requiring background checks on all firearms purchases by the year 2024, meaning even purchasing a lowly .22 caliber rifle will now require the onerous procedure.

As Fox News reports:

On Monday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed into law landmark legislation expanding background checks on all gun sales in the state while also providing mental health funding for communities impacted by gun violence.

It builds upon the multimillion-dollar investment in violence prevention programs which were included in this year’s state budget, according to Pritzker.

“Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have come together to shape a law steeped in a commonsense commitment to safety,” said Pritzker.

In a Monday Twitter post, Pritzker, a first-term Democrat seeking reelection, called it “the most comprehensive reform to our state firearms laws in over a generation.”

The plan is part of a modernization effort of the Firearm Owners Identification card system, a draconian and totalitarian system by which owners of firearms can be tracked and monitored by the government and law enforcement.

Oh I’m sure that’ll stop the 100 plus shootings in the Chicago area every weekend. We’ve seen how the toughest anti gun laws of any state in the country continue to deter gun crimes huh. criminals 1…law abiding citizens 0. What a bunch of putzes. I’m with you, I’ll stay in Texas where my 2A rights are fully protected.

“Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have come together to shape a law steeped in a commonsense commitment to safety,” said Pritzker.

There is not even a small grain of common sense in this law. All this will do is further harass the law abiding gun owner and that is the only purpose for the law. The thug community will never obey it and they prefer larger handguns than the lowly 22 (And I have nothing against the 22 it is a fine caliber).

Where is the NRA? Where is the NAGR? Where is the lawsuit and court injunction to block this? I would care less if i read in the paper JB Pritzker (Heil Pritzker) got a good heart attack, stroke, drunk driver collision, etc.

The NRA is being harassed by the AG of NY over their bankruptcy filing.. they want to move to Texas too, and this NY administration won’t let them leave…
