A stunning new poll is now showing that Californians, a group that tends to lean liberal and resides in a state with some of the most brutal gun control in the nation, are now beginning to question the effectiveness of their state’s anti-2nd Amendment laws.
As Yahoo News reports:
The poll released Thursday found that 56% of the state’s voters surveyed believe stronger laws restricting the sale and possession of guns help make their communities safer, but the number is down from 60% who felt that way three years ago.
The poll also found that 57% of California voters say it is more important to place greater controls on gun ownership than it is to protect Americans’ rights to own guns under the 2nd Amendment, but that number is down from 64% who felt that way in 2018.
The decline in confidence in gun laws is a response to what people are seeing in their communities, said Mark DiCamillo, director of the Berkeley IGS Poll.“I think it’s due in large measure to the increase in crime, especially violent crime,” DiCamillo said. “But still, this is a very Democratic and very liberal constituency and gun control laws have traditionally been quite popular among those voters not only here in California but nationwide.”
Could it be that Democrats have finally learned that gun control measures don’t actually keep them safe, and in fact actually has the opposite effect?
Californians lost faith in just about everything, as our leadership ignores the exodus of hundreds of thousands of Californians from this sinking liberal juggernaut. Among those escaping citizens are large corporations, which translates to jobs also leaving our state. As our swelling homeless population languishes beneath freeways, lines our streets and camps along rivers and public parks among non-citizens, recently released violent felons and other cultural refuse, while crime skyrockets and taxes follow suit, there is scant hope for our population to reverse the damage done after decades of liberal dominance in Sacramento.
I don’t understand why they embraced gun control other than the original meaning. Gun control is being able to shoot what or whom you aim at

California was founded with a gun in hand. Mexico tried to disarm their people in California. With the gringos in the northern part of California and the Mexicans in the south, they went to war with Mexico and won. However if the gringos had their way, the southern Californian boarder would have been at Fresno, not San Diego. California was a country before joining the United States of America. Know your damn history before you lose your freedom. Like moths to light, California attracted the worst of the USA to come here and instill their perverted agenda on the native Californians. 75 years ago, we wanted to check people at our boarder but were not allowed. We wound up with the likes of Henry Weinstein, Newsom, Feinstein, Boxer, and all of Hollywood and the scum that revolves around it.
My ancestors have been in California for 200 years. We sis not sign up for the socialist communist take over. Mexicans rise and join the natives.
I’ll agree that the U.S. tilts westward (And northward..) and many undesirables gravitate to California for their ‘health’ and ‘welfare’. I was born and raised in the state, and the changes I’ve seen are disheartening. So many liberal ideologies have permeated our culture, government and religious centers. We had gay people in California, but they had their place, and we coexisted without a lot of drama. Black people, too, were in attendance, and they just found their niche among those who accepted their cultural trappings. Mexicans were present, and they had their fiestas and other events without interference. (One Ritchie Valens was among those who performed with success.) Now, it’s every faction for themselves. They all have lawyers, media and government recognition, with a great big chip on their shoulders which they dare others to knock off, and render them to suffer an unending barrage of ad hominem and legal entanglements. Our liberal government is chiefly to blame for these issues, and they’re entrenched to the point where–like weeds–they will grow unchecked in such a ‘fertile’ environment.

California is not the blue state is a corrupt state.
If you are driving a vehicle down the street and you run over a pedestrian, will the police arrest you or your vehicle? If you are carrying a hand gun and you shoot someone with that gun, who will the police arrest? Yes, that answer would be YOU, not the vehicle or the gun. So, let’s start dropping gun control, let’s concentrate on the persons committing the criminals using a gun.
I believe not all Californians are stupid but there are plenty that are because the dumb ones believe that an inanimate object is responsible for violence instead of the person behind the object.
Using this line of reasoning in California all cars should be banned because people driving cars under the influence of alcohol and drugs sometimes kill people in traffic accidents. The car is the problem not the drunk driver; ban all cars!!!
Just remove Newsom and restore law and order in California/ He is the problem as well as people like Eric Stallwell and the Los Angeles Mayor. Oh and remover guns from any Democrat. So far all gun violence is done by Democrats and illegals
Unfortunately, gun-haters/grabbers must face a direct personal loss before they have an Epiphany. Scores of violent criminals being released to the streets and floods of Cartel, MS-13 gangs and other brutal criminals released on ‘good behavior’, taking a human toll on CA ‘kool-aid’ drinkers may be the only way to turn things around. But for others there – there is no cure. Just remember this: Leftist politicians have their own private security dedicated to keeping their worthless, tax-sucking behinds alive, and YOU – Paid For It.
My one wish for ‘Any Twosome” Newsom is to have his limousine involved in an accident with an inebriated, illegal alien motorist. Hopefully, the mishap would prove fatal for both principles.
Interesting! But what is the breakdown between those in rural areas as apposed to urban areas? Most people who live in urban area do not own firearms and do not see the need for one. Many have been sold on the idea that police and politicians will protect them and have been sold a bill of goods that tells them “Guns are bad”!
