With the GOP poised to take control of Congress next year, House Judiciary Committee Republicans have formally notified a controversial FBI figure he must turn over key documents and prepare for sworn testimony over claims he interfered in the 2020 election by blocking an investigation of alleged criminal activity by Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

In a letter to former FBI agent Timothy Thibault, House Judiciary Committee Republicans Jim Jordan, Darrell Issa and Mike Johnson formally request he save records and prepare to testify relating to allegations by agency whistleblowers that he shut down investigations that could have revealed damaging information about Joe Biden during the 2020 election, and also ordered agents to conduct investigations aimed at politically damaging Republicans.

“We have been investigating serious allegations of abuse and misconduct within the senior leadership of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” the letter begins.

“Brave whistleblowers have informed us that as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Washington Field Office, you pressured line agents to reclassify cases as ‘domestic violent extremism’ even though there was minimal, circumstantial evidence to support a reclassification,” the letter reads.

“Other whistleblowers have come to Congress alleging that you were part of a scheme to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Biden family. Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry,” it continues.

The letter formally notifies him he should preserve all documents and communications relating to the allegations of wrongdoing, prepare to turn them over to investigators and be ready to be deposed by investigators.

That allegation refers to claims by FBI whistleblowers that agency officials falsified the number of cases of supposed violence by Trump supporters to assist Democrats in a new campaign tactic of casting Republican supporters as “extremists” and threats to internal security, and they blocked investigations into evidence that Democrat nominee Joe Biden’s adult son Hunter was involved in human trafficking of prostitutes and possibly illegal foreign business deals.

That effort involved claims, now debunked, that “Russian agents” planted the photographs and documented evidence of criminal activity on a laptop owned by Hunter Biden.

Thibault resigned from the FBI after he was accused of violating federal laws against partisan political activity by federal employees and whistleblowers came forward with evidence of additional wrongdoing.
