Following Joe Bidens September 1, 2022 speech, where in front of a blood red background Biden called ‘MAGA Republicans’ semi-fascists, 21 Democrats in toss-up or tough elections were asked how they felt about Biden’s messaging. While the White House has defended the statements saying they’re not political because “The MAGA Republicans are the most energized part of the Republican Party. That is an extreme threat to our democracy, to our freedom, to our rights.” She added further that “they just don’t respect the rule of law” and are “pursuing an agenda that takes away people’s rights”, said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. While the White House attempts to make this look like a hero vs villain argument and those who disagree fall in line with the villains. Democrats in purple or red areas are slow to agree, adding proof that Biden’s speech was nothing more than a political attack and his administration clinging onto power.

Fox News Digital reached out to each of the 21 Democrats running for re-election in districts considered “toss-ups,” as well as “lean” and “likely Republican,” and asked them whether they, like Biden, do not respect “MAGA Republicans” and whether they believe Republicans are a “threat” to democracy as the president has claimed. None of them responded.

Biden’s message resonated with those in attendance who offered cheerful applause for his claims, but those running in elections in purple areas of the country are refusing to offer comment on whether they align with his message.

Earlier this week, the Biden administration faced criticism while previewing Biden’s speech planned for Thursday evening, which is slated to further his message on Republicans being a threat to democracy and freedom.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., responded to the statements by blasting Biden’s leadership on a variety of issues.

“What the Hell?! This is the justification for raiding the former President’s home? For stalking parents at school board meetings? For hiring 87,000 new IRS employees? For extinguishing the right to own guns? For devaluing the currency? For centralizing our food supply?” he asked.

Without question, the statements made by the President were political, and the 21 Democrats who were questioned by Fox News on their response to President Biden’s speech are proof of that. Agreeing publicly with the President of the United States would be career suicide for these Democrats who are hoping to win over some swing voters, but agreeing with the President would mean calling potential voters ‘semi-fascist’ and ‘extremist’.
