According to two top American manufacturers the shocking and widespread shortage of ammunition which has swept American since the onset of the Coronavirus.

As The Reload reports:

“On certain products, we are certainly seeing backlogs that stretch out two years and beyond,” Brett Flaugher, president of Winchester Ammunition, told The Reload. “For those who shoot 9mm and 5.56 ammunition, which are both in high demand, it’s very uncertain how long it will be before people will consistently have ammunition readily available.”

“I’m looking at two and a half years’ worth of demand already on order,” Jason Hornady, vice president of Hornady Manufacturing Company, told The Reload. “So, I’m not seeing a slowdown for two and a half years.”…

But neither man was confident things would return to normal. Welsch said even with a slowdown, “it would not be surprising to see hunters struggling to find some of the more niche rifle calibers this fall” because “supplies of .243 Winchester, .22-250, and .30-30 ammo are incredibly tight with little sign of change coming quickly.” Wexler said a self-perpetuating cycle of buying, shooting, and re-buying driven by pent-up demand makes it hard see when things get back to normal even after the ammo supply increases…

“This business is going to continue on the pace it is for the next 18 months to two and a half years,” he said. “That’s how long it’s gonna be before you walk in and find a box of .223, and come back tomorrow and buy a box of .223 or 9mm, or you pick the caliber.”

With prices rising and ammo in short supply, potentially for years, will American gun owners themselves soon become ripe targets for new Democrats gun control measures?

  1. Total BS. $$ is all it is about.
Do not trust the Government or Corporations who have your best interest in heart.

    1. No. The bigger picture is it is about making it very hard on gun owners to buy guns and ammo in hopes of squashing the ability to use guns in America. The COMMUNIST government does NOT WANT WE THE PEOPLE to be able to defend ourselves against their tyranny!

      1. The government has been hording 9 mm and .223 (5.56 mm) for years. Millions of rounds in their stock piles and they continue to buy.

        1. My belief as well. It’s the Government in the driver’s seat driving this shortage.
No one will convince me otherwise. When you can find it, the price is pure Usury.

  2. Somebody making alot of money. Plenty of this ammo for sale at gouging prices. Can get a thousand 5.56 anyday if people are will to pay out the !!! For it. Plenty of 9mm full metal jacket for a price. The net is full of it. Wonder how many demotards are invested in ammo and guns?

  3. The dcraps are behind every evil. Every good thing they touch is destroyed. Dcraps: Americas worst enemy!

  4. I don’t understand this. Did the covid shutdown restrict manufacturing in the gun/ammo industry this badly?????? I can’t get small caliber anything!!!! I wonder who’s buying it up?

  5. Add to the shortage Califunny has taxed the crap out of any ammon you can find. The late state of Califunny run by democrats and not enjoys by any citizens but old ladies in tinned shoes in dark rooms smelling of mothballs.

    1. That is the government’s hope…that gun owners stop buying their ammo. That is their Communist desire…that Americans not have guns or ammo to defend themselves against the Communist government of America’s TYRANNY!

  6. Even the “oddball” caliber ammo is drying up. One of my favorites, the rimfire .17 HM2 round, has pretty much disappeared from what few shops carried it, as well as on-line retailers. I guess it’s a good thing I was already stocked up on it, as well as the other calibers I use.

  7. If everyone would stop buying mail order ammo and purchase ONLY local the price will go down. The mail order sellers are selling high volume so they’re the first on the list for resupply. If we would all slow waaaaaaayyyyyyy down on internet purchases our local gun shops, Cabelas’ etc would be higher on the list to replenish their stock. The internet suppliers are the ones dictating the prices so we’re bringing this on ourselves. Just sayin’……..

    1. No. Step back and look at the bigger picture and the Communist Agenda of the Biden Administration. He and all of his Chinese Communist Party leaders HATE the 2nd Amendment! They don’t want WE THE PEOPLE to be able to defend ourselves from their TYRANNY!

  8. Never-mind the increasing gun-sales & the sky-high demand for all-kinds of ammo…did ya’ll 👀 that lunatic-clown O’bidet ‘foaming at the mouth’ while berating Americans for opposing his ‘f#€!<ing Great Socialist Re-set' damn entertaining🍿🤣🤡

  9. I am creating an honest wage from home 1900 Dollars/week , that is wonderful, below a year gone i used to be unemployed during an atrocious economy. I convey God on a daily basis. I used to be endowed with these directions and currently it’s my duty to pay it forward and share it with everybody,
    Here is where I started……….►  Paybuzz9.Com

  10. I agree with a lot of Americans
biden is the best sales representative that’s making history. Gun, and ammo sales are in fact the best in decades.

  11. Blame this on the Democrats and that they are working to undo the second amendment. People are buying guns and ammunition at historical rates because of the Democrats. First time gun owners increased by about 6 million in 2020 and 2021 is on pace to surpass that. I will probably buy my first gun ever in 2021 and hope I can get ammo to practice shooting with it.

  12. Since the manufacturers are going full out to make as much ammo as they can, and you still can’t find any to buy tells me that they’re selling it to our “homeland security”. Why don’t they just come out and admit it. Nobody can convince me that the public is hording the ammo at the crazy prices being charged for it. Since our government can’t seem to take our guns away, they simply take the ammo for them. I just wish I had a way to prove it. If the ammo makers are being honest, then why haven’t we heard any statements explaining exactly why there is a shortage? Don’t blame the Wuhan Virus. That dog don’t hunt.

  13. This is what we have in the W H . In my opinion this crap is a disgrace to the American people. I don’t understand how someone like this is voted in.

  14. In the 45+ years since coming of age, I’ve weathered a fair number of shortages, but never on as bad as this. I’m glad I spent the last few years since Obutthead buying more than I shoot, and buying as many components as a fixed budget would allow.
Used to go to the range I’m a member of weekly, but cut back to once a month September 2020, if it’s going to be 2 1/2 years, I may need to cut back to every other month.
I’m seeing bullets and powder on the shelves in limited quantities, but none of the LGS’s have received any primers since July/August of 2020. My primer stockpile doesn’t look as big as it did under these circumstances.
