South Dakota governor Kristi Noem has now refused to sign a new bill created by state legislators in her own party which would have banned biological males from competing in girls’ sports.
Noem later released an official statement on Twitter indicating that she would be sending the bill back to legislators for revisions and that she believed the ban should not extend to college athletes.

South Dakota’s GOP governor declined on Friday to sign a bill from legislators in her own party that would have banned transgender girls from participating in women’s high school sports…
“Unfortunately, as I have studied this legislation and conferred with legal experts over the past several days, I have become concerned that this bill’s vague and overly broad language could have significant unintended consequences,” Noem wrote…
Overall, these style and form clarifications protect women sports while also showing empathy for youths struggling with what they understand to be their gender identity. (18/)

Republicans in the state legislature who supported the bill called Noem’s effort to force them to make changes to the legislation “inappropriate.”
“Legislators are the ones who makes the laws and the governor signs them,” state Rep. Rhonda Milstead (R), who sponsored the bill, told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. “She’s gutting the bill and writing a new law and that’s not her job.”

Without this law there is no female sports.
Think how the boys feel when the girls got in to boys sports teams and boys scouts . There is no more boys football or baseball teams because the girls got all that changed by court of law rules.
Boys are stronger than girls on average, but the male of the species is also cognizant of threats against their population. Women are born mothers, and that nurturing, empathetic, tolerant, forgiving nature inhibits the fight or flight response. Weirdos just love the attention they’re getting, which is likely the reason they adopted this lifestyle. However, our government should NEVER intervene with what is essentially a cultural issue, and adjustment. The amount of attention our leaders are getting is completely unwarranted and counter to the function of their office.

I think the overwhelming majority of you have missed the boat. There are many laws (i.e. our second amendment) that are ambiguous and can vary according to which judge rules on it. Even if we know what they meant. I think she is being very cautious to make sure it is done correctly and can’t be overturned at a later date. I applaud her for making this a better bill. I am not clear on the ramifications of what it does to college sports, but it is something far better than Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Schumer would ever consider.

It’s past time for people to distinguish in this debate between sports that “are” or “are not really” team sports. Skiing, swimming, and track (except for relays) are “not really” team sports. Each individual participant posts a time. That time can be compared any way desired to determine “places.” College coaches looking to award scholarships care about the times – not the places that were taken. Such sports have absolutely no reason to fear coed participation. And a lot of money could be saved by combining teams. Football and basketball obviously should not be coed.

The Governor has been very clear about her political views. Because of that, anyone thinking rationally will ignore this headline and simply take the Governor at her word. She has problems with the vague way the bill was worded and wants it written more clearly before she’ll consider signing it. She hasn’t”betrayed” anyone, and her history suggests that she won’t do so, since she has always been a principled conservative. I was looking at the Governor as a following to President Trump. A good strong Conservative and what I thought a true leader.
