California Gov. Gavin Newsom has ruled ham-handedly during the coronavirus pandemic, making decisions affecting the most intimate aspects of his constituent’s lives.

Newsom recently ordered that most Golden State schools remain closed this fall, citing the spread of COVID-19.

His decree comes despite the harm caused by remote learning and the scientific evidence that schools can reopen safely with a few precautions.

In response to the controversy, the Liberty Center, under the guidance of Harmeet Dhillon, filed a civil rights lawsuit to reopen California’s schools.

The center explains in a press release:

On behalf of plaintiffs Matthew Brach, Alison Walsh, John Ziegler, Kenneth Fleming, Erica Sephton, Lacee Beaulieu, Jesse Petrilla, Roger Hackett, and Christine Ruiz, the Center for American Liberty, in coordination with the Dhillon Law Group, filed a lawsuit against Governor Gavin Newsom challenging [the] order barring in-classroom education in 32 counties and for 80 percent of California’s children. This decision by the Governor violates the California constitutional guarantee to a basic education, federal due process and equal protection guarantees, and the federal right to an effective education for disabled children.

Governor Newsom’s July 17, 2020 decree that both public and private school facilities will remain closed at the start of the fall semester, flies in the face of science, data, and the knowledge learned from the failed online education experiment of the 2020 spring semester in California’s schools, during which many children were unable to log on and access online learning—or if they could, experienced at best ineffective and at worst, nonexistent instruction. What’s more, family after family has reported the deleterious effect of being shut-in on their children’s physical and mental health, and have seen them withdraw and lose hope just as they should be focusing on growing, learning, and seeking a better future through education.

In these counties, education will be relegated to online distance learning — which for too many families — particularly those in minority communities, the growing financially distressed population of California, and families of special needs children — means no learning at all. Governor Newsom’s unilateral act even bars parents in most of the state from taking their kids to a private school to obtain the education the state denies!

Plaintiffs represent families from across the state whose rights to a basic education are being denied. Their children have already suffered academically, socially, and emotionally from stunted online education in the spring, and who rightfully fear compounded injury to academic progress and physical/mental health and development in the year ahead. Plaintiffs seek to reopen in-person education as an option for children in their districts.

    1. THANK YOU!!! I’ve noticed that before, and got push-back from the dolts that believe if you pattern yourself after a Euro airhead, you are infallible. This guy is a walking example of incompetent leadership run amok. But, watch…corrupt Cali will fall in line with pelosi and re-elect this cretin.

  1. We “walked away” from the Democrat Party a few weeks after the Obomination made it clear that the only “promise” he intended to keep was to “Fundamentally Change America” for the worst.
NewScum need to be recalled and an actual “Public Servant” be put in his place.
It surprises me that the Democrats want to close the “Indoctrination Centers”.

  2. Newsome is one of the most destructive communist Democrats we’ve seen. Unfortunately he has millions that his leadership is damaging.

  3. Dumbocrats are on a mission. The party has been subtly or not so subtly hijacked by the Communistic Libtards. Their mission is to have this country a 3rd world country run by them and to enslave everyone again. Only the government folks will be free. It wouldn’t surprise me if this whole Covid thing has been made in to a pandemic to take away all of our rights. They wanted to test us and see how well we follow all of their stupid orders. The only thing, it would appear that is standing in the way of totally making it happen is President Trump. I think if he could just get re-elected he would go gonads out to keep from the ruination of our freedoms. He knows he can’t be re-elected again, so I don’t think very much will stop him from fighting. God help us when his time as President runs out. I just pray it is later than sooner….

    1. Don’t worry, after Biden;s recent stupid comments, I think Trump is no doubt a shoe-in! He;s got this! Only New York and California would be stupid enough to still vote for Biden now (wasn;t California the only state to vote for Mondale during Reagan’s re-election?) and two states does not the whole USA make!

  4. The people of California, by way of their performance at the voting booth hired Newsom. Now they are stuck with him. Be interesting to see what they do if and when he runs for reelection. Same is true for those who occupy seats in the state legislature, though looking at past performances is not especially encouraging.
