In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court has struck down Louisana’s abortion law.

The ruling seems to confirm that even if the conservative-leaning Supreme Court wants to hand down pro-life rulings, they will come incrementally.

Axios has more:

Why it matters: The court’s 5-4 ruling largely leaves the status quo of abortion law unchanged, affirms the court’s precedents and leaves big decisions about the future of abortion access for another day.

Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court’s more liberal justices in the decision.

The big picture: Louisiana had required abortion providers to maintain admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The Supreme Court struck down nearly identical requirements, out of Texas, in 2016. And the justices said today that their earlier decision controls this case, too.

But it will likely upset conservative activists who want to see the court — and Chief Justice John Roberts, in particular — move more aggressively.

In the 2016 ruling against the similar Texas law, Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the Court’s conservative bloc. Legal experts had their eyes on Roberts this time around. Given his penchant for institutionalism, many correctly predicted he would vote in line with the 2016 ruling.

  1. So how does allowing ANYONE hired by Planned Parenthood no matter what their status as a physician take us farther from back-alley abortions performed by those with no medical license that liberals constantly complain about?

    1. Corrupt. Not even a FIFTH GRADER, would have claimed that forced purchase of insurance could be called a TAX. And yet he did. WHY? My guess is they had major dirt on him. Or the elite, ONE WORLD ORDER threatened him and/or his family. No matter. Judgement is coming. “Do not be deceived. God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap……..” Galatians 6:7-9. That means that you can’t have someone “pray” you out of punishment.

  2. The so called judges don’t want death penalty laws yet women are allowed to murder babies at will. What a messed up system we have. I say throw out all and start over.

  3. Roberts is another Souter who was put in by Bush senior and swung right over to the liberals! He will continue to work with the communistic liberals until the country falls under the communist democrats!

  4. Roberts should not be in the Supreme Court because he is unethical. They brived him about deporting his kid and now is a puppet to the left. He does as he is told by the left.

  5. “…even if the conservative leaning court…” Interesting way of putting it. Who’d have known they were “conservative”? Certainly not anyone who actually IS conservative.

  6. I am Mostly Conservative but I do agree that women should choose and not Men choose for them.

  7. As of today, the Supreme Court of the U.S. has allowed physicians to perform abortions at a “clinic” or office, WITHOUT their having privileges at near-by or ANY hospital. This means that if an abortion is in progress, and a medical emergency is required, that physician may not take his/her patient to a near-by hospital for treatment even if to save the life of said patient. Another doctor has to be called in quickly and arrange for the transport of the pt in distress.

  8. Roberts is smart, don’t waste political capital on small potatoes, save up for the big vote to overturn roe v wade

  9. Roberts will be still congratulating himself on all of his noble self righteous decisions when the Constitution is being burned by the Marxists mob implementing their iron handed communist regime that will last for the next 400 years of human misery….
