The wife of Kentucky Congressman Andy Barr, one of President Trump’s staunchest congressional allies, died suddenly and unexpectedly at the couple’s Lexington home.

Eleanor Carol Leavell Barr was 39.

The Louisville Courier Journal’s Ben Tobin reports:

“During this tragic time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Congressman Barr and his family to grieve Mrs. Barr being called home to heaven. Congressman Barr may release a more detailed statement at a later date, but right now is solely focused on being a father to his two beautiful daughters.”

No further information was provided.

Barr, who went by Carol, grew up in Kentucky and married her husband in 2008. She worked for Pfizer and as an executive director of the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship.

  1. (Dittos to Mar) So very sorry to hear of this great loss. Our arms are around the Barr family in this very difficult time. America lost a great patriot and a good mother.
