Speaking on behalf of the federal government, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced that the United States is officially declaring coronavirus a public health emergency.

The virus is confirmed to have sickened nearly 10,000 people worldwide, although its two-week incubation period makes the estimated number of infected challenging to determine.

Given those realities, the Trump administration is temporarily barring foreign nationals from entering the country if they have been to China in the past 14 days. Americans who have been evacuated are being subjected to a quarantine period. (The Hill)
