Last night, a celebration party for the now 58-year-old newly elected Speaker of the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, was held in Washington, D.C., on his birthday. The event was attended by members of the Republican Party and their families, as well as several high-profile political figures from around the country. There were speeches from prominent Republicans, including Rep. McCarthy himself, and a presentation of awards to some of the party’s top leaders who had been selected for outstanding service.

The celebration was a huge success, and it highlighted the accomplishments of Rep. McCarthy and the Republican Party as they move forward in the 118th Congress.

However, while many Republican Representatives came together to celebrate the 118th Congress and the newly elected Speaker of the House, some notable names were not in attendance for the celebration; including members of the Freedom Caucus, such as Representatives Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan, and Lauren Boebert.

Country music star Randy Houser was also in attendance for McCarthy’s celebration dinner, providing entertainment for those in attendance.

Earlier in the day, Elon Musk made headlines when he stopped by the U.S. Capitol building to meet with both McCarthy and Democrat Hakeen Jefferies in an attempt to assure Twitter is “ensuring that this platform is fair to both parties.” However, McCarthy would go on to say, “He came to wish me a happy birthday,” as he told reporters. “We’ve been friends for years.”
