Trump receives endorsement from Seventh GOP Senator

Former President Donald Trump has received the support of Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.) for his 2024 White House bid. Senator Budd, who won North Carolina’s Senate race over Democrat Cheri Beasley in the 2022 midterms, joins six other sitting senators in endorsing Trump. Budd said he endorses Trump because he believes the nation is in decline under President Joe Biden and that everyday families need the America First agenda to restore prosperity and peace.

Trump faces criminal charges, but most Republicans remain loyal

Former President Trump has become the first sitting or former president to face criminal charges, with 34 felony counts related to the falsification of business records. While the arrest of Trump has served as a rallying cry for some Republicans, others point to it as another reason why the party should seek other leadership for the 2024 election. Nevertheless, Trump has still received the endorsement of 39 House members, according to The Hill’s endorsement tracker.
