Washington Post Admits Defeat Against Trump
The Washington Post has apologized to President Trump – after one of their reporters shared a phony photo of a mostly-empty arena purported to be Trump's Pensacola campaign rally.

Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel shared the photo to refute Trump's claim that the rally was "packed to the rafters" at the Pensacola Bay Center. But Trump was correct: the arena was so full that some would-be rallygoers were turned away at the door.

The photo shared by Weigel had been taken earlier in the day, many hours before Trump's speech and before most attendees had entered the building.

Trump attacked Weigel over Twitter, tweeting: "@DaveWeigel @WashingtonPost put out a phony photo of an empty arena hours before I arrived @ the venue, w/thousands of people outside, on their way in. Real photos now shown as I spoke. Packed house, many people unable to get in. Demand apology & retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo!"

Weigel quickly deleted the photo and apologized, tweeting back to Trump: "Sure thing: I apologize."

Weigel further explained himself in a follow-up tweet, "It was a bad tweet on my personal account, not a story for Washington Post. I deleted it after like 20 minutes. Very fair to call me out."

Trump, however, didn't relent, calling on Weigel to be fired by the Post. The Post has since announced that they would not be taking disciplinary action against Weigel.
