Univision Anchor Wants to Return to Mexico Over Trump
Spanish-speaking U.S. news anchor Jorge Ramos wants to return to Mexico – because of President Trump.

In an interview promoting his latest book, the 60-year-old Univision anchor told interviewer Jaime Bayly that he wanted to live in Mexico "for a while."

"I would like to return to the country I left," he said, adding that his possible forthcoming mood was "pending."

Ramos's book, "Stranger: The Challenge of a Latino Immigrant in the Trump Era," sheds more light on the influential journalist's rationale behind returning to Mexico.

The first line in his book? "There are times when I feel like a stranger in this country where I've spent half my life."

He added that "the United States as a country has historically been accustomed to others... But not everywhere. And not all the time. The history of this nation registers cycles of acceptance when it comes to foreigners, followed by cycles of tremendous rejection and discrimination. This latter cycle is the one in which we are living now."

"There are parts of the country that are more resistant to immigrants, blaming them unfairly for the primary problems we face, from a lack of well-paying jobs to crime. And there are politicians who take advantage of this fact in order to divide the nation and win votes. Politicians such as Donald Trump."

Ramos went on to say that "Trump has given people permission to attack immigrants and make racist remarks, just as he has done."
