Shocking News Rocks Trump Campaign
This afternoon, a shockwave rocked the political world, when Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski was charged with simple battery in Jupiter, Florida. As Business Insider notes:
Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump went on a Twitter offensive Tuesday after his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was charged with simple battery.The police in Jupiter, Florida, charged Lewandowski and released security footage that appears to show him yanking then Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields backward and away from Trump after a press conference earlier this month.
Fields, a frequent Fox News contributor and reporter for Breitbart at the time(she has since left the organization) expressed shock at her rough handling by Lewandowski, and at the time demanded an apology. When the Trump campaign denied it happened and called into question her version of events and reputation, she took to social media, posting photos on social media revealing of the bruises covering her wrist where Lewandowski grabbed her, and filed formal charges. While video at the time showed Lewandowski clearly grabbing Fields, many Trump fans were quick to rush to Lewandowski's defense, and the social media game of telephone that erupted during the controversy created a firestorm of inconsistent understanding of what transpired. Charges were formally fired after local police received CCTV footage from the event that confirmed Fields version of events.
