Poll Shows AOC Can Be Beat
***Stop the Notorious AOC***
Despite representing one of the most liberal congressional districts in the country, only 43.4 percent of the freshman lawmaker's constituents view her favorably. (IJR)
There could be several reasons as to why her favorability markers are not higher, but one key reason may be her response to Amazon choosing her district for its new headquarters. As IJR previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez said she was “outraged” by Amazon moving to her district.
Amazon is a billion-dollar company. The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) November 13, 2018
Her vocal distaste for the company eventually prompted Amazon to withdraw their offer, taking with them 25,000 jobs and the $2.5 billion dollar campus they planned to build.
In total, 61.7 percent of Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents felt they would be better off if Amazon had stayed in their district. In fact, even 50.1 percent of those who identified as Ocasio-Cortez’s supporters felt the district would have been better off.
Ocasio-Cortez championed the Green New Deal, vowing to mobilize the entire U.S. economy to combat climate change. However, during the botched rollout of the resolution, her team included a fact sheet that vowed to stop cow farts and pay people who are “unwilling” to work, among other things.
Only a third of Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents supported a taxpayer-funded paycheck going to those who are unwilling to work
