"For it is a truth, which the experience of ages has attested, that the people are always most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in the possession of those of whom they entertain the least suspicion." - Alexander Hamilton

While Alexander Hamilton has become somewhat of an icon of the left due to the success of the Broadway show Hamilton, they fail to grasp that he was the very “gun nut” that they abhor. Ironic to say the least. Hamilton wrote the above quote in an essay later compiled into The Federalist Papers in defense of the Constitution.
