The telegenic Republican is the perfect archetype of an establishment politician.

There's just one problem; voters don't want that anymore.

Besides, he ran for president in 2008 and came up short in the GOP primary. He snagged the nomination in 2012, but a lackluster performance against President Barack Obama doomed his chances. 

It's not impossible to imagine Romney challenging Trump, but it's practically so to think he'd rise like a phoenix from the ashes of his earlier debacles. 

Bottom line: We'll give him Utah, but that's it.
