The New York Times predicted that the end of the world as we knew it was sure to come quickly due to the rampant pollution that was ongoing in the mid-twentieth century.

This prediction was made in 1969 and proved to be wrong. Why was it wrong? Well, for starters, you are reading this, aren't you?

Unfortunately for the New York Times, this is the not the Twilight Zone or purgatory, mankind is alive and kicking and they were dead wrong on this prediction.
