Guy Fawks nearly blew up the House of Lords in London, England on the opening day of Parliament: Saturday, November 5, 1605. For attempting to assassinate hundreds of his countrymen – including King James I – and install a Catholic monarch, Fawks was found guilty of high treason and hung, drawn, and quartered.
