On June 6, 1944, 175,000 Anglo-American forces landed in Normandy, France to open up the long-awaited second front in Europe. 

Despite heavy casualties, the U.S.-led invasion grabbed a toehold in Nazi-occupied Europe.

In half the time of the Mueller report, the Allies liberated Western Europe from millions of battle-hardened German soldiers and Hitler committed suicide.
