4.) Too Soft on Putin

Bipartisan criticism followed President Trump’s summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

Although there were notable exceptions – including Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Lou Dobbs – the reaction on Fox News mirrored that of the nation as a whole, with disbelief and outrage centered around the president’s acceptance of Putin’s dubious claims, which contradicted the United States Intelligence Community.

Fox’s chief White House correspondent John Roberts remarked there was “growing consensus” the president “threw the United States under the bus.”

“I don’t get it — I just don’t get it,” uttered a confounded Trish Regan who said the president should have publicly defended the government’s intelligence agencies and condemned Putin to his face. She proceeded to call his performance at the joint-press conference “horrible.”

Maria Bartiromo called the meeting “probably the low point of the presidency so far.”

The pro-Trump Fox Business anchor reiterated the then-GOP led House Intelligence Committee’s findings that the Kremlin had undeniably tried to sow dissension and chaos amid the 2016 election.

Even Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy called Trump’s performance “puzzling.”
