While the FBI did not release all the details leading up to his arrest, we do know that forensic evidence was the biggest factor in his apprehension. Authorities lifted a latent fingerprint off of a device intended for Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.). Other DNA evidence was found on two different devices. Of course, these perfectly matched the records Florida law enforcement had on file, given Sayoc’s lengthy history with law enforcement.
